Founded by an experienced Japanese translator in 2022, JPTranslators is a network of translators and linguists based in Japan. All of us have at least a decade of professional experience, and some have more than two decades of experience. In addition to that, we are all:
- native speakers of Japanese based in Japan
- professionally specialized in one or more fields
- not users of generative AI tools to complete jobs
- bilinguals who have studied at the college level (or equivalent) in the source language(s)
- using the source language(s) as his/her working language(s) for decades

Our Story
After years of translating as subcontractors from behind the curtain of agencies, we realized something was missing. We never hear from the people who actually use the translation that we carefully crafted.
Working with agencies, even prestigious ones, is akin to shooting in the dark. Subcontractor translators, like us, are out of the loop and left in the dark. We don’t know what clients want or why they need translation.
Finally, we decided to disrupt the status quo by stepping out of the intermediary’s shadow. Our strong ambitions and intentions motivated us to start building this website. It all happened in 2022.
